To celebrate the 3rd anniversary of Celeste, we made a sequel to Celeste Classic for PICO-8 :D you can play Celeste Classic 2 now on web or pico-8! Not so much an actual sequel to the full version of Celeste itself, Celeste Classic 2 is more of an extension of the prototype that would eventually become Celeste, offering a myriad of platforming levels to explore and overcome. Although downloadable on PICO-8, it’s also playable in multiple forms on the web for free. Celeste Classic is a prototype of what would eventually be developed into the full game, and now Celeste 2: Lani’s Trek, or Celeste Classic 2, has been released to play for free on the PICO-8 platform.Ĭeleste Designer Maddy Thorson released Celeste Classic 2 for the PICO-8 game platform on January 25, 2021, marking one of several fun offerings for Celeste’s third anniversary since release in 2018. Here we are, though, and in celebration of another year passed since Madeline’s climb up Mount Celeste, and the game’s creator has a treat for all fans. Article taken from ’s absolutely wild to think it has already been three years since Celeste first launched, putting our platforming skills to the absolute test and warming our hearts with its daunting journey of self-realization and acceptance. It's wonderful to see more developers put their stuff on itch, it's a great store. You can now find PICO-8 on itch.io for $15 but it's also in the huge itch.io charity bundle that ends in just less than a week. You could even use it to build an actual retro console with the power of Linux too, since it supports even the Raspberry Pi. As someone who grew up with the Amiga, SEGA Mega Drive and a few before that, I find retro stuff like this amazing how it brings in modern convenience yet still keeps it feeling authentic. A lot of developers continue to tinker and tweak their games to improve them and I've already found a lot I want to actually go back and play more of.

There are some genuinely good games to be found using the built-in online cart explorer too.
